2nd Week~The Introduction of The Course~

The second class was totally an eye opening for me. Thank God!!!Pn. Foziah introduced the 5 models that we are going to learn throughout this course. I was so excited to know about these models.The five models are:

· Internet and competence skills

· Photo editing skills

· Video editing skills

· Audio editing skills

· Software for ESL skills.

I was so excited to know more about photo,video,and audio editing skills because I really love to edit everything although honestly I’m not good in it. Well,man is not perfect. However, I believe that we can be perfect by keep on learning and learning and learning because it is always a continuous process and there is no full stop for learning.So,I was really determined to learn successfully all these skills.

Besides that,she also encouraged us to learn typing skills. She wanted us to type without looking at the keyboard. ’That was awesome’, I thought in my mind. I realised I was blessed to have such a passionate lecturer whereby she taught us so dedicationally. She went around the class and examined each of us to see how good our typing skills were.

I also learnt that there are some rules to be an expert in touch typing skills:

· Firstly sit up straight and make sure your head is parallel towards the monitor.

· Remember to keep your fingers on the home row.

· Bear in mind that the alphabets R,F,V are the border of left and meanwhile on the right starts with the alphabet G.

· Curve your fingers, wrists up and elbows by your side.

· Start typing without seeing the keyboards

I realised that to be an expert ,we needs practice because practice makes perfect.Besides that,she also told us that typing without seeing the keyboard really will make us to feel relaxed.YES INDEED. I agree with her.I felt so relaxed in typing without seeing the keyboards .Definitely, I believed that it would be a good exercise to our fingers and mind.

Other than that,we were asked to answer questionnaires. The purposes of the questionnaires were to know the level of our competency in using the technological applications and to gain personal information such as name, address and website address. I also understood that she needs our help in answering the questionnaires because it was a research for her.S o,all the very best to her from us.

Personally, I believed that the questionnaires were really effective and useful because it made me to ponder about the softwares and applications that I never used before. As a result, I realised that I need to expore all the softwares in order to be a savvy techno 21^st century teacher.

Furthermore,I really adore the way she knew these IT things well.Honestly,I was a bit sad and embarresed for not knowing all these IT stuffs.Therefore,I determined to learn well so that I can be an expert like her.

Besides that,she also introduced 2 softwares which were MOYEA and Windows Live Skydrive.These two names I never heard before and sounds ‘aliens’ for me.

Basically,MOYEA is used to download and arrange web videos from YouTube, Google Video, Fox and other more video-sharing websites ,convert videos, displays videos on playlist for quick selection,publish videos with player on webpage with sample code,and much more meanwhile Windows Live Skydrive can give 25GB of free online storage.

Overall,I learnt many things in this week.Before I entered the class,my knowledge of technology was zero yet now AFTER the class,I believed that I have gain 65 percent of knowledge regarding technology stuffs.Therefore,I determined to get the balance 35 percent in the next class in order to get 100 percent.That’s all for now and I enjoyed the class a lot and really looked forward for the next class.That’s all now.See you again next week.

1st Week~The First Day in Class~

First of all,welcome One Malaysia, Selamat Datang,Huanying,and Vanakam to everyone.This blog is specifically created for my new subject PBEY 3101 entitled 'Using & Developing Resources for ESL Classroom'.

The respective lecturer for this subject is Puan Foziah and she is very warm and friendly lecturer. She also knows very well about all the technology stuffs and we were fortunate to have as our lecturer so that we can be 'techno-savy' teacher in the future.There are 2 groups for this subject. I am from the second group and the class is from 10-1pm every Monday.

Well at first I was wondering and curious about this course.' What am I going to learn in this course? What will I gain in this class? Will I do better in this course,' I thought in my mind.There are so many questions popped up in my mind.

As this was the first day in class, the anxious feeling came to my nerves even before the lecture started.For today, all of us were having the introduction session where we had an ice-breaking session and the most surprising part was when our lecturer asked us to create a blog for this subject. At first, I thought this subject was basically about the information regarding the usage of teaching aids in primary schools and I thought it would be easy !! However, it was totally an unexpected thing for me!!!

‘Blog?Oh my God!’, I thought in my mind. I never wrote a blog before in my entire life and this will be my first blog entry. I was ashamed of myself because I really don’t know how to create a blog eventhough I am living in a modern era of IT and globalization. I am just behaving innocently as though I live in stone age!!!

However,as a teacher,I realised that creating a blog is very important in this era. So,I took the effort and initiatives to learn to create the blog. Finally, I managed to open my first blog with the help of my friends and through the encouragement of my lecturer.

Besides that, she also asked us to buy 8GB pendrive and install Adobe Photoshop CS3 and reminded us to bring a photo passport sized. I hope everything will goes smoothly with grace of God. That's all for now and see you soon in the next blog.
