3rd Week~Group Presentation-Children's Learning~

Time passed so fast and this was the third week for this course. Well, it is true that time will not wait for us and each seconds of time is precious. In this lesson, our respective lecturer had divided all of us into groups. Each group consisted of six people from various races and genders. Personally, I think it was a good idea to divide students in variety because it will encourage the cooperation between the races yet boost them to give many ideas. Therefore, my lecturer Pn. Foziah had done a good job I would say! A task was assigned to each group that was all the members in a group had to read and understand the content of the assigned title.

Then, we had to prepare a power point and we need to present it. Thus, my group had did about The Instinct for Interaction and Talk. The definition part was explained by Dachaini and later was continued with Ashraf who explained about “Why interaction is important?”. He explained very well about it as he gave a lot of details and examples related to it. Then, Visva proceed with the “Types of interactions and The roles of teacher in encouraging interaction”. Lastly, I present about “The examples of activities which encourage interaction” . For example, I explained that activities such as hot-seating and role play can can boost interaction between the students because basically both of the activities are fun which can simulate the students to learn indirectly. In brief, I realised that the students should be encouraged to do the talking all the time because it can help them to construct their own meaning and knowledge and boost them to give their and share their opinions and ideas as well. Therefore, group work is a must and essential to the children. Besides that.our lecturer has also added on that '...interaction engages different students at different level. Therefore, as a future teacher, we must always remember that “Each and every student is different...''. Thus, we must make sure that the children are learning and engage actively in their preference way.

Besides that, Pn. Foziah whom encouraged us to find relevant information from the internet had widen our opportunity in exploring the website. Thus, this had make us to be learner-centric rather than teacher-centered. As a result, I realised that I should do a lesson plan that gave full freedom to pupils in discussing and exploring a topic by using internet in the future.Consequently, they could be good in technological skills as well.

Furthermore, she also gave feedback to all groups. As a result, we realised of our strengths and weaknesses. Other than that, Pn. Foziah had reminded all the groups to insert the “URL” on the power point if they quoted any information from the internet. She also suggested that short but precise characteristics of the games such as “Charade” and “Guessing games” should be included as well.

Personally,in my opinion, I think “URL” should be embedded in the power point because the students could easily refer to it if they wanted to do further readings. Other than that, the presentation should be colourful as well because it can attract the students and to have motivation to study as well. For instance, group 2 had included lots of colourful images on the presentation. Thus, I realised that I as a future teacher should also make a colourful yet significant powerpoint to help the students to understand much better.

Since short of time, not all groups manage to present.I am really looking forward for their presentation.Until then, see you next time!
